A well-executed Vegas elopement is less about spontaneity and more about smart planning. The timeline should feel relaxed, but every piece should be placed with intention—especially if you want a mix of iconic locations, good light, and time to actually enjoy the day.
This couple structured their day around a few key moments: getting ready at the Wynn, portraits at the Neon Museum, a chapel ceremony, and time on the Strip at sunset and after dark. The result felt natural and fun, but nothing was left to chance.
Choosing the Right Ceremony Approach
Many Vegas chapels offer “all-inclusive packages,” but that little marketing tactic leaves out a very important detail: photography. While most chapels have an in-house photographer, images typically aren’t included—you’ll need to purchase them individually, often at a high per-photo rate.
Some venues charge a permit fee if you bring your own photographer, which can seem like an extra expense, but it’s usually the more practical option (my packages include the images).
In many cases, buying individual images from the chapel photographer costs more than the permit fee. And you have less control over the style and end up with a smaller final gallery.
If photography is important to you, it’s worth planning for this in advance. Bringing your preferred photographer ensures you get full elopement day coverage in the cohesive style you love.

If you love fashion and creative styling, Vegas is the perfect canvas. Most aesthetics really pop against the city’s energy and vintage vibe.
For this elopement, Teri chose a light blue tiered tulle gown from Milla—unexpected but perfectly suited to the setting. She paired it with a matching veil by an Etsy designer, creating a cohesive look without feeling overdesigned.
The key is contrast. Structured tailoring, unique textures, or subtle color can all work well here. You don’t need excess—just clarity in your choices.
Beyond the Chapel: The Full Vegas Elopement Experience
One advantage of eloping in Las Vegas is its proximity. You can quickly move from one setting to another, allowing for variety without adding stress or losing time.
This couple rented a vintage car, which became both a design element and a practical choice. It allowed for uninterrupted movement between locations and created space for candid moments in between as I photographed from the back seat.
Driving through the city—especially along the Strip as the light changes—is part of the experience. It also gives your photographer opportunities to document something less staged.
Photoshoot at the Neon Museum
The Neon Museum (above) is one of the most distinctive photo locations in Las Vegas. It requires some advance planning, including a permit and proof of insurance from your photographer (which I have).
You’ll also need to choose your timing carefully: sessions typically take place either before opening or after closing.
Teri and Dan chose a morning session to keep the rest of their day open. The result was quiet, controlled, and visually clean.
A nighttime session offers a completely different atmosphere, with the neon lights activated. Both options work—it just depends on the tone you want. (I would love to shoot an evening session here!)
The Value of Time After the Ceremony
In Vegas, the ceremony is often the shortest part of the day. What happens after matters just as much.
After their vows, Teri and Dan cut a small vintage-styled cake, shared champagne, and then spent the evening exploring the city—downtown streets, casino facades, and the Strip at sunset.
This is where the day shifts. The structure falls away, and the experience becomes more fluid.
If you plan for it, this time can produce the most natural images—less posed, more reflective of how the day actually felt. With vows officially exchanged, you can relax and have some creative fun.
Navigating Vegas Casinos & Public Spaces
I do want to note: not all casinos allow photography inside, especially with professional equipment. Access varies, and it often comes down to experience and timing.
If indoor casino photos are important to you, we can work to make it happen with a little finesse and know-how. Otherwise, we’ll focus on exterior spaces, which offer more flexibility and just as much visual impact.

Vegas changes after dark. The light, the movement, the atmosphere—it all takes on new form.
If you’re planning an elopement here, make space in your timeline for nighttime photos. It doesn’t need to be complicated. A short window after dinner or between locations is enough.
