Quail Ranch Weddings: A Private Historic Hacienda in Ventura
Sara and Noah were such lovely clients. They fully trusted me to give them photo magic, which means the most. Before their wedding day at Quail Ranch in Ventura, California, I also had the pleasure of photographing their rehearsal dinner at Westlake Village Inn (another amazing wedding venue!). I love wedding weekends because they tell the full story of your wedding experience. Plus, it allows me to get to know your friends and family before the wedding day and learn more about the VIPs of your wedding day (your most important people). Listening to the speeches and getting to know my couple is extra magical and special!
Every part of their wedding was unforgettable, from getting ready in the stunningly styled poolside suite to the intimate outdoor ketubah signing and Sara’s grand staircase ceremony entrance to mountain-view golden hour portraits. (Also, I just have to note that Sara planned this meticulously styled wedding herself, including the flowers. She is so talented!) All that to say, Quail Ranch is a venue is one you don’t want to miss, and it’s a must-feature for the blog.
Nestled in the heart of Ventura, California, Quail Ranch is more than just a wedding venue – it’s an enchanting journey back in time. Steeped in rustic charm, rich history, and timeless romance, this private hacienda provides the perfect setting for couples seeking a one-of-a-kind wedding day.
As a working citrus and avocado farm, manicured gardens, majestic oaks, and tall pines make this 70-acre Simi Valley orchard even more breathtaking. Add in the large pool, handmade tiles, and Spanish brick, and Quail Ranch becomes one of the dreamiest venues you’ve ever seen! The meticulously restored 1930s Spanish-style architecture adds a touch of old-world elegance, while the modern amenities ensure every comfort is met.
Whether you dream of exchanging vows under a canopy of California sunshine or dancing the night away beneath twinkling string lights, Quail Ranch offers multiple ceremony and reception spaces to suit your individual style. From intimate gatherings to extravagant affairs, their dedicated team is phenomenal at bringing unique visions to life.
Conveniently located just minutes from downtown Ventura, the Pacific Ocean, and Los Angeles, Quail Ranch offers a tranquil escape while still being easily accessible. Sara and Noah’s wedding day was as romantic as it gets, and I can’t wait to shoot here again!
The ranch and venue owners Joanne and Gary have graciously opened their private working ranch to a few couples and special events throughout the year. She is a member of the Isleta Pueblo Native American tribe, and the quail is a symbol of family, strength, and our connection with nature for her. You can tell the owners care deeply about the legacy of the ranch and the stories of all who visit it, which makes the venue even more special and memorable for a wedding day. Love and beauty permeate every corner of this unique hacienda.
Quail Ranch is such a unique private venue with some of the best scenery and views I’ve ever experienced at a venue—and that’s saying something here in gorgeous Southern California. However, this is not an all-inclusive venue, and I highly recommend a wedding planner or designer. That said, the owner, Joanne, is an excellent and experienced host, and she and her team are there with you every step of the way.
After a breathtaking ceremony beneath the trees, I love having the option of a poolside cocktail hour. (And I’m definitely not opposed to the wedding party jumping in at the end of the night! I’ve had a few couples do this in the past, and the pictures are always so much fun—not to mention it makes for a memorable experience.)
A completely al fresco wedding is such a refreshing experience, and there’s no better place to do it than here in the mild and scenic Simi Valley. The weather could not be better! Even luxury weddings feel like a warm reunion at the ranch—it’s truly a place you never want to leave. Since the whole day is hosted outside (except for the Poolside Suite and Ranch Office, which are also beautiful spaces), the owners have put so much thought and effort into the outdoor aesthetic.
In addition to the beautiful Spanish estate boasting white stucco walls and red tile, there are tons of other architectural elements. Flowing fountains, a cascading staircase, multi-level gardens, brick patios, pergolas, and a gated courtyard add so much visual interest. I’m in love with the landscaping: palms, blooming wisteria vines, jasmine, and roses make the estate feel like a fairytale. (Can you tell that I absolutely love it here?)
If you want a wedding day backdrop fit for a painting, Quail Ranch and its hacienda won’t disappoint. Their team is a dream to work with, and Quail Ranch is at the top of my list for luxury outdoor wedding venues near Los Angeles.
