Chicago Elopement at Big Delicious Planet

Chicago Elopement at Big Delicious Planet. Kelsey and Blake eloped originally back in 2020. Of course due to all the pandemic restrictions, things had to be quite small. Now here we are in 2021, and they wanted to recreate their special day surrounded by their loved ones!

Chicago Elopement at Big Delicious Planet

Kelsey and Blake had their elopement at Big Delicious Planet. BDP is kind of like a small farm in the middle of Chicago, so it’s a great place for anyone looking for more earthy vibes. One of the great things about Big Delicious Planet is not only are their staff some of the nicest people ever but the food is AMAZING as well. While I haven’t tried the cocktails, they look absolutely delicious and don’t get me started on the desserts! Just know that if Big Delicious Planet is catering your wedding, you are in very good hands.

Ceremony

They both got ready at the Renaissance Hotel in Downtown Chicago. For their elopement, they opted out of a first look. They wanted to be a bit more traditional, so that’s exactly what we did! Blake saw Kelsey for the first time as she walked down the aisle and it felt magical. Kelsey finally got to wear her wedding dress and have her dad walk her down the aisle. It really felt like the real deal for them and everyone was grinning from ear to ear. They did a religious ceremony so that way all of their friends and family got to watch too! What the photos won’t show you though is that it was almost 100 degrees on this day in Chicago. Everyone was troopers it as we were outside for majority of the day, but it was SO worth it. While it was beautiful, it definitely was hot.

Reception

After the elopement ceremony came the reception and let me tell you… it was just as beautiful. The decor was to die for and thanks to their lovely planner, Ohana Events, everything looked immaculate. Danielle who I work with a lot, along with her team, are great to work with and really made this wedding come to life! Despite this being a small wedding, they made sure to set aside time for a first dance and speeches. If you’ve worked with me before, or just know me well, you know that I absolutely LOVE speeches. I love being able to capture those real reactions and getting those little moments. I always recommend that even if you’re having a tiny wedding, having speeches can be such an amazing thing to look back on.

As the evening crept on us, of course I had to steal the “newlyweds” to grab so golden hour shots. Once those were done, we headed back to finish off the night with a dance party! Thank you so much to Kelsey and Blake for allowing me to capture such special moments for the both of you. Although the weather was hot, their elopement wedding was beautiful and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Congrats K+B!!
