Chicago Lakefront Engagement Session. So you all know how much I LOVE my shared studio space, Loft 505. I have been wanting to do more shoots here so that’s when I thought that a giveaway would be the perfect opportunity to get more couples through the door. I had just painted one of the walls this gorgeous navy blue color so I was super stoked to host this giveaway. Sam and Remy were the first people to reply which ended up being perfect! They actually were having their engagement session coming up, so we decided to put the two sessions together.

First thing when they arrived we immediately got in front of this gorgeous navy blue wall. We got to have some fun with lighting and double exposure shots and it was just so much fun.

Chicago Lakefront Engagement Session

After our time in the studio, we made our way over to this gorgeous lakefront. This is actually a location that I have never shot at before, so I was super stoked! You could see the beautiful city views from afar. So much greenery and the scenery was just beautiful. Sam and Remy were really down for anything which I loved so we really got to be creative. Of course we took some photos with the gorgeous city views in the back but then we decided to switch it up.

One of the best things is when couples are open to being creative and having a bit more fun with their shoots. Something that I’ve always wanted to do was have a fun shoot in the water so… that’s exactly what we did. While Sam and Remy were fully clothed, I had them get in the water and basically just swim around with each other. At this point is when I realized just how much fun I was having. They even brought this blow up unicorn pool tube which I thought was adorable. However, due to it being so windy and the waves going crazy, staying afloat was a bit of a problem. Despite the slight wind problem, we had so much fun AND some good laughs.

To end their session, we took some amazing direct shots with flash. Flash is something I have loved to incorporate more while shooting and I’ve been loving it! So much so that these photos turned out to be some of my favorites. It gives me some major editorial vibes, which is a style that I am really trying to channel lately! I was obsessed with this entire session. It made me so excited to be even more creative and try new things moving forward.

It was nostalgic, sexy, fun and everything in between and despite some slight gusts of wind it was just perfect. I am so happy with how these photos turned out and I’m even more excited to celebrate Sam & Remy’s wedding at The Arbory in October!
