The day finally arrived! After photographing Sabrina and Edgar’s romantic Angeles National Forest engagement session last year, I couldn’t wait for their wedding day at Saddlerock Ranch. Located in the Malibu Hills with over 1,000 acres of gorgeous landscape, Saddlerock Ranch, operated by Malibu Family Wines, features a rich history and breathtaking scenery. This venue offers some of the most stunning panoramic views of the Santa Monica Mountains.
Amazingly, this land was part of the original Spanish Land Grant about 300 years ago. Up until the 1930s, farmers and ranchers called El Malibu home. Visit Saddlerock Ranch’s website to learn more about its beginnings. Over the years, the extraordinary vistas have made this area famous. Saddlerock Ranch has been featured on many popular movies and tv shows, including The Kardashians, The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Fun with Dick and Jane, Hard to Kill, and many more. Take one glimpse at the vast countryside, and it’s easy to see why!
Summer Saddlerock Ranch Wedding | Sabrina + Edgar
Even on one of the hottest days in Malibu last year (seriously, almost 100 degrees in the mountains!), this wedding was a dream. The wedding party started their day in a dreamy AirBnB at the top of the Santa Monica mountains to prepare. And what an incredible start it was! After a brief first look, the party traveled to Saddlerock Ranch.
A little backstory here: poor Sabrina twisted her ankle the week before the wedding, but she handled it like an absolute champ! With a bit of icing and a few extra sitting breaks, she was able to enjoy the fullness of the day. To make things easier, we kept most of their portraits close to the ceremony/reception site rather than exploring new locations. But with the unreal backdrop Saddlerock Ranch provides, that was no issue!
Their wedding planner at Cluster Events (incredible, by the way!) had the great idea to have the guests come to the newlywed’s table during the reception. Not only did that allow Sabrina to rest her ankle, but it made for the sweetest candid photos of them and their guests. To round out this perfect wedding day, they had a flawless reception with dining and dancing under the night sky on the lawn lit with dazzling twinkle lights.
Sabrina and Edgar’s gorgeous wedding capitalized on all the beauty and unique potential Saddlerock Ranch offers. The venue offers three different wedding settings depending on the season and your aesthetic preferences. Saddlerock Ranch boasts everything from expansive manicured lawns, rose gardens, and ribbons of white fences to a custom rock waterfall and rolling hills lined with vineyards. You’ll also find horses and exotic animals grazing throughout the property!

Malibu Venue with Built-in Aesthetic | Minimal Decor Needed

Saddlerock Ranch Venue Details
You have even more opportunities to customize your experience at Saddlerock Ranch by bringing in your own vendors (if you prefer). They require you to use their security and valet companies, but all other vendors are your choice!
A few more logistics to note:
-Getting-ready spaces/bridal suites are provided at each location on the property.
-In some areas, parking is limited, but the venue offers shuttle services to get your guests where they need to be.
-With a music curfew of 11 pm-12 am (varies by location), you don’t have to cut the party short!
