Winter Forest Engagement Session. A few months ago, Ashley & Aria contacted me about shooting an engagement session for them. The only condition however, was that they wanted their engagement photos done while it was snowing! If you have ever tried planning an engagement session, you know that it is VERY difficult to control the weather. With this in mind, we decided to keep in touch and to wait around for the next snow fall. Then if we all were free, then we would make time to shoot their engagement photos!

It was such a weird year in Chicago, so it actually didn’t start snowing until February! Once February hit, there was a full week of snow and we knew we had to take advantage of this moment. At the end of the week, we all were free to get this engagement session rollin’. We drove a long way to make it to our shooting location at Lakewood Forest Preserve. We chose this location because it was going to give those magical winter vibes that were exactly what we were going for. Keep in mind, that it is the middle of winter so we have to act quick but nonetheless everything was perfect.

As soon as we arrived, we had to dredge through the snow for about 15 minutes in order to get to where we were going to shoot. Ashley & Aria were such troopers and really made the session all the more dreamy. Their outfits and seeing how they acted around each other made this winter forest engagement session so magical. I really feel like every single photo looks like we are in some sort of ad, right?

The Lakewood Forest Preserve is absolutely stunning! I have spent so much time location scouting and finding amazing places to shoot for my couples, so when they were down to do something in the winter and in the forest I knew EXACTLY where to take them. The long rows of pine trees are absolutely incredible and it makes me feel like we left Illinois, even though realistically we are an hour outside of Chicago.

They even brought blankets, coffee and mugs to use as props during their engagement session. It was so cute and really helps tell the story between these two and throughout the images. Thank you so much Ashley & Aria for being up for such a fun session – it truly was unbelievable. To all of my future couples, if you’re down to do something crazy I am always there to help!
