Chicago Rooftop Elopement

Covid be damned!! Nikki and Paul got married on their original date—4/17/2020–in a beautiful intimate Chicago rooftop elopement in their own apartment in Lakeview. They had only Nikki’s sister and their officiant, who was a good friend of theirs, in attendance. They had all their other friends and family set up to watch the ceremony over Zoom!

We did some detail shots and then Nikki got ready in their bedroom, and it was so perfect, with beautiful light. Paul got ready in their living room. I really love the feeling when people get ready in their own homes, it is just so authentic and comfortable. They had written each other letters, and read them, so touching! Then came the first look, right in their own bedroom. How cute is that?

Then it was golden hour on the rooftop and we had to take full advantage with some beautiful portraits of this amazing Chicago rooftop elopement!

The rooftop ceremony was gorgeous! It was a little chilly, being April and WINDY, but they were troopers and it made for beautiful photos! We celebrated, took a few more rooftop shots and then headed back down to their apartment. 

They greeted all their loved ones over the Zoom chat, and did cheers with everyone and with each other. Their friends and family had all recorded them a special video message, kind of like speeches across the miles, and it was so fun to see them watch it together, and capture all the laughter and tears!
