Loft Wedding in Chicago

Next up, this loft wedding in Chicago!! I was absolutely so excited when Rachel got in touch with me about photographing her wedding. She and I went to college together at Columbia College Chicago and I absolutely LOVE shooting weddings for other photographers. And on top of that, Rachel is super talented too!

Rachel and Xavi got ready in matching rooms on different floors at the awesome Hotel Allegro. What a great hotel for getting ready photos in the room, and I love their lobby for an amazing portrait location!

One sweet special side note about the day—one of Rachel’s best friends sadly couldn’t make it to the wedding due to a health issue, but Rachel Facetimed with her while getting ready and throughout the rest of the day to be sure she didn’t miss any of the important moments, and I was able to get super special photos of them talking.

After some super fun portraits during a walk around downtown on the perfect cloudy day (amazing for middle-of-the-day portraits,) we made our way to their venue, Low Res Studio. We met up with the wedding party and walked the streets around the venue to get some awesome grungy wedding party photos in front of warehouse buildings in the West Loop. After a few more portraits of them, we headed to the venue.

The rest of the day went by crazy quickly. We headed inside for the ceremony at Low Res Studio, went to cocktail hour, and back upstairs for a fun reception. The photo of Xavi and Rachel cheering with all of their guests is one of my personal favorites ever. I just love the candid moment we caught!

Thank you SO much to Rachel and Xavi for having us! It was such a fun day and so great to reconnect with a few people from Columbia!
