Chicago Wedding at Union Station

I am so beyond excited to share with you Ashley and Patrick’s wedding day. Not only was it epic because every location they chose was amazing, but both of them are just such kind souls. Keep on reading to learn more about their Chicago Wedding at Union Station.

Getting Ready at Chicago Athletic Hotel

Ashley got ready at the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel which has some gorgeous decor and details – I was obsessed. While Ashley and her bridesmaids got their hair & makeup done there, Patrick was getting ready at home! Ashley had some amazing details, like her red Louboutin’s which are always such a classic touch. After Ashley completed all of her final touches to her look, her and her bridesmaids headed to the infamous stairs inside the CAA Hotel.

Chicago Wedding at Union Station

Once some of the portraits were done here, we headed to their ceremony location at Chicago Union Station! Before going inside though, Ashley decided to do a first look with her dad and it was the cutest thing EVER. Of course, then it was ceremony time where Ashley and Patrick saw each other for the first time. While some couples may opt to do a first look on their wedding day, some other choose not to! It builds anticipation for this one grand moment where you both see each other. It can be a pretty impactful and emotional moment. As you can imagine, the emotions were running high at this moment and you could tell that everyone was just so happy.

Ashley and Patrick are huge travelers and have been to over 30 countries (and counting!). They even were living in Poland together while planning their wedding – how cool! It’s this small detail about them that made choosing Union Station as their ceremony location the perfect spot. The vows were said, the tears were flowing and they were officially newlyweds – YAY! After doing a quick celebration with friends & family, Ashley, Patrick and I headed back inside to finish up some portraits. At the time, Union Station was closed for an event so we got to have photos in some locations that I’ve never gotten to see before. Nobody was there so we got to use the space to our full advantage which was definitely one of the coolest moments.

Millenium Park & Board of Trade Wedding Portraits

From there, we headed to Board of Trade. There we took some photos with the with the rest of the wedding party! You may notice a bunch of photos I pulled from this but I swear, it was just too hard to pick. Once we finished up at Board of Trade, we made our way to Millenium Park to snag a few more photos. The photos of Ashley and Patrick in the garden surrounded by all the greenery seriously have be swooning and it was just next level amazing. Not often do we get to shoot golden hour on a wedding day, but on this day we were at the right place & right time. We got these EPIC photos of them in the garden with the sun beaming down on them and they are some of my favorite photos to date.

Greenhouse Loft Wedding Reception

After soaking up all of the golden hour goodness, we made our way to Greenhouse Loft for their reception! You may not know this, but I actually used to work at Greenhouse Loft and I’ve shot about 20+ weddings there. So let’s just say I know the space pretty well… The reception started off on a strong note with a celebratory shot, which hello… WE LOVE! There were speeches, first dances and of course once the dance floor broke out the crowd went wild.

Towards the end of the night, I was able to sneak Ashley and Patrick away for some night photos! These have become my new favorite thing lately, so you best believe I will be trying to do some of these at every wedding. We got some really cool photos of them in their photo booth using direct flash and it really gave off those beautiful editorial vibes. I even got to take them outside to some fun photos using my prism before heading out for the night. It seriously was such a blast being able to capture these moments for A+P and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
