Christmas Themed Wedding – Chicago Wedding Photographer

Christmas themed wedding – Chicago wedding photographer. Dana & Kurt had reached out to me just a few weeks before their wedding as they had a change of plans due to the pandemic. Their original plans were actually to have a destination wedding.. But with everything going on, Chicago isn’t a bad backup plan!! Due to the pandemic they got nervous that their friends & family wouldn’t be able to travel. Instead, they decided to have a small wedding in Chicago just days before Christmas. Although it was the middle of December, the photos that we took with the views of the Chicago skyline you could barely tell! It was so sunny and beautiful outside which made for perfect scenery for their wedding.

Christmas Themed Wedding

First, we started at Fullerton Beach which is always so beautiful. The city skyline was looking amazing and the way the sun was hitting made it look so dreamy. After that we headed towards Downtown Chicago where we took some photos in front of the Wrigley Building. During the holiday’s there is always a big Christmas tree up at the Wrigley Building, so we just HAD to snap a few shots. Even while we were in Downtown Chicago, the Chicago skyline and weather were just showing off. The sun was beaming in between the buildings and oh my goodness, it was breathtaking. It really only looks like this in the winter, so it was incredibly special for Dana & Kurt’s big day.

The Board of Trade & Lasalle Street Bridge

Next, we went to The Board of Trade. The Board of Trade is the perfect setting if you’re looking for some old school city vibes. Finally, our last stop before the wedding was at the Lasalle Street Bridge where we took a few amazing shots. The Lasalle Bridge is really close to The Board of Trade so commuting was no problem, especially since we were battling those winter temperatures!

During elopements/smaller weddings, when it’s just me and the couple, we’re able to travel a bit more & check out some cool locations. They also don’t take as long since it really is only me and the couple and you don’t have to worry about anybody else!! Plus, this session was in the winter so we really wanted to be quick but also utilize all of the beautiful Chicago scenery.

The best part about this day, was that they had this old vintage car drive us around to all of our destination spots. It was super fun, especially when others saw us driving around. It was super convenient too, because of the frigid winter weather. People were cheering and congratulating the happy couple and it seriously was such a blast!!

St. James Cathedral

After taking their location portraits, we head to St. James Cathedral for their wedding ceremony! Since it was the middle of winter, by the time we arrived for the ceremony it was dark. However, that did not stop us from getting some AMAZING shots. The church was so stunning and had gorgeous lighting! Surrounded by their closest family members, Dana & Kurt had the most amazing wedding ceremony. After, we headed over to Kurt’s family’s home for their reception. There they had cake cutting and beautiful decorations and it was the perfect ending to a perfect day.
