Date Night in San Francisco Engagement Session
Meet Maggie and Kevin, the dynamic duo I had the thrill of capturing on camera with a lifestyle, high-fashion San Francisco engagement session. We’re upping the ante this November by shooting their wedding at the breathtaking Kohl Mansion, Burlingame, CA, just outside the city!
Our SF engagement session was a whirlwind tour of the city’s coolest and most iconic spots. First, we hit up Original Joe’s, a classic SF bar and restaurant that embodies the city’s allure. (I also want to give a big shoutout to them for letting us use their space before opening hours.) Its rich dark wood interiors and signature cocktails set the stage for an intimate and romantic atmosphere. The moody, romantic vibe was just perfect!
Next stop? Tony’s Pizza Napoletana! Known for the best pizza in San Francisco, we grabbed a pie to-go from their walk-up window. Then, we hiked up one of the city’s famous hills for some urban street shots. With pizza in hand, we rested atop the city’s famed hills, capturing stunning city views (and our delicious pizza) in our photos. Then, we wrapped up their session on their rooftop with a panoramic cityscape view, making the whole experience feel like a fun-filled date night.
The charm of Maggie and Kevin’s style was the showstopper of the session. The perfect blend of Maggie’s dress, jackets, sunglasses, and purse added a dash of their unique personality to the photos. There’s a distinct allure to lifestyle city-strolling engagement sessions. They allow you to do fun things like eating pizza, having a drink, or chatting at a coffee shop, which adds depth and character to the photos. You can showcase your personality and connection more than you might with a typical on-location shoot.
With a blend of film and digital photography, we captured the eclectic essence of old San Francisco, setting the mood for their impending November wedding. From editorial to romantic lifestyle shots, we crafted a diverse and dynamic collection of images that told a distinct story.
The best part? I don’t charge travel fees for weddings in the Bay Area! It’s always a thrill to be back, and I never miss an opportunity to catch up with friends and family when I’m in the neighborhood!
Do you want to capture your story in lovely San Fran but can’t decide where to strike a pose? I’ve got you covered! With its colorful history, diverse culture, and breathtaking landscapes, San Francisco has tons of adventurous starting points for engagement photos. Ideally, you want to make one of these the “main attraction” and plan the rest of your session within walking distance, like Maggie and Kevin. The more we commute, the less time we’ll have for photos, and it won’t feel quite as organic as strolling around.
If you’re after a bit of grandeur and classical romance, the Palace of Fine Arts makes an eye-catching backdrop. Greek-style columns, a massive dome, and a tranquil lagoon make this interesting venue an architectural masterpiece. It’s a beautiful blend of elegance and nature that will make your engagement pictures stand out.
For those who want a beach setting minus the cliché, Baker Beach is your answer. With the iconic Golden Gate Bridge at one end and the vast Pacific Ocean at the other, it’s an idyllic setting for a sunset photoshoot.
Tip: We can capture your reflection in the shallow water for a unique perspective!
Are you a fan of vibrant hues? Then, let the Painted Ladies of Alamo Square be your canvas. These Victorian and Edwardian houses, painted in cute pastel colors, provide a playful postcard backdrop for a nostalgic shoot. (The slopes are gentle here, making it a little easier to hike around.)
The Sutro Baths ruins offer a mix of rustic charm and intriguing historical eeriness. The baths were a late-1800s bay-fed aquatic center that burned down controversially by arson. Now, the crumbling walls and the surrounding wild nature create a compelling contrast that will give your photos a captivating feel.
Bonus points: The ruins overlook the ocean, so you can still get that beachy vibe!
If you want the Golden Gate Bridge in your engagement photos but crave a less typical angle, head to the Presidio. This historic park offers several unique views of the bridge, surrounded by lush greenery or the stunning San Francisco Bay. We could capture a kiss with the world-famous landmark softly blurred in the background for an intimate yet iconic San Fran shot.
Let Mother Nature work her creative magic at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park. Its white Victorian structure, surrounded by trailing greenery and cheerful flowers, adds a fairytale touch to your photos.
Each of these unique places in San Francisco holds a charm of its own. Remember, the location that speaks to your style, journey, and love story will always be the best backdrop for your engagement photos. Pick something that speaks to you and make a date out of it, visiting shops, dining spots, and trails along the way.
