Minnesota Lake Superior Wedding

Ok, this one is super special to me because it’s my SISTER’S wedding, a Minnesota Lake Superior Wedding! I was so excited to get to shoot my sister Maija’s small outdoor wedding during Covid! She and Mark had already decided on an intimate family wedding on a Monday. And on the shores of Lake Superior at Larsmont Cottages in Two Harbors, MN. It was so fun getting ready with Maija and her two daughters, Austin and Cody. Jake was second shooting, so he captured Mark getting ready in a separate room. We went outside for a first look, so beautiful, and the girls jumped into some shots, and my mom too. Everyone had to have pictures with the little girls, who were the real VIPs. 

Then we did some couples shots around the gorgeous property, in the middle of the road, along the lake, in the lush long grass. 

And then we headed to the ceremony! It was a beautiful, perfect day along the shoreline. Maija’s daughters stood up as little bridesmaids and helped with the rings, which they were so excited about! My mom had gotten Maija’s favorite Texas musician, Drew Kennedy, to come play their wedding, and that was a real highlight. 

The first few shots after they were married and greeted their guests as a married couple are always my favorite! 

And here is my family!! If you look closely you can see a picture of me joining in. Drew played for some outside dancing during the cocktail hour, we had toasts, a fabulous dinner and Maija and Mark cut their pie, from the famous Betty’s Pies. 

Then we of course had to get some GORGEOUS sunset portraits on the shores of Lake Superior, these were the photos Maija and I were both most excited about. My favorite one has to be the silhouette of them holding hands along the shore. We ended the night with a magical sparkler exit. It was really meaningful to be there to photograph my sister’s wedding and to get to see and spend time with all my family during these crazy Covid times!
