Old Hollywood Glam Wedding in San Francisco // Cecily + Griffin

Sometimes I just know a couple will have the most epic wedding day upon meeting them; Cecily and Griffin are one of those couples! These two share an impeccable sense of style. When describing their vision for their wedding day, there was no way it could be anything short of extraordinary (and that it was!)—from the details on Cecily’s wedding gown to the food served at their reception, this day exuded Old Hollywood Glamour.

Getting Ready & Wedding Party Portraits

The girls started the day getting ready at the gorgeous Fairmont Hotel. Not only was the space comfortable for prepping and hanging out, but the lighting and view from the room was unreal. (This hotel would also make for a stunning venue option!) We set the tone for the day with some glam shots and, of course, a champagne-popping moment. Afterward, the ladies and I Vogued it up for some seriously incredible portraits on the rooftop and around the hotel.

Meanwhile, the guys were next door at the University Club with my second photographer, Jake. Next-door hotels are ideal when not doing a first look because you’re logistically close, but you’re separated enough not to chance crossing paths. The library where the boys got ready provided the prime backdrop for editorial shots and featured a handsome masculine vibe.

That moment was extraordinarily special since Cecily and Griffin didn’t see each other until she walked down the aisle. They spent the entire ceremony beaming at and holding on to each other, oh, so in love!! After exchanging vows and sharing their first kiss as Mr. and Mrs., they exited in style with a dramatic dip in the middle, one of my favorite photos of the entire day! Old Hollywood Glam Wedding Portraits

After taking family photos, we had about 15 minutes for portraits of the newlyweds. We made use of every second and used every space along the way. I love a city vibe so much! These two looked striking in these editorial shots. We also need to take a minute for Cecily’s dress—W. O. W.—if a dress could be photogenic, hers absolutely was. Then, we wrapped up with a classic and forever favorite of mine—the elevator moment—and off to the reception we went!

Candlelit Reception at University Club San Franciso

Cecily and Griffin spend a lot of time with friends drinking wine and celebrating holidays with their families. They wanted their wedding to emulate that. They often have family dinners by candlelight, so they had a candlelit reception that brilliantly showed off the glowing city. It doesn’t get any more romantic than that! I used low light settings and flash expertise to capture the ambiance and bring the beauty to life. The guest experience as a whole was essential for Cecily and Griffin. They wanted (and delivered) good food, delicious drinks, and a great time. Part of the experience included a cigar roller and the opportunity to smoke on the gorgeous balcony overlooking San Francisco—such a unique and memorable touch! Finally, the dance floor opened up, and this epic day ended with lots of laughs, dancing, and love.

Cecily and Griffin’s big day had so many elements that I adore. This Old Hollywood glam aesthetic is one that I am obsessed with. It offers such a timeless elegance, yet it’s still creative and fun!
