Chicago Backyard Wedding – Chicago Wedding Photographer

Chicago Backyard Wedding – Chicago Wedding Photographer. Along with a lot of couples in 2020, Rachel & Victor had to make plenty of wedding changes. They originally had set their sights on getting married at Café Brauer. Instead, they ended up doing a small backyard wedding in Rachel’s parents backyard. Although it was a big change of plans for their special day, it still turned out perfect!

St. James Farm Forest Preserve

To start off their wedding day, they got ready at a hotel near Rachel’s parents home. The hotel had such beautiful lighting so of course we had to take advantage of it. Then we took their first look photos down in the lobby and their reactions were absolutely priceless! We then hopped on a party bus and headed to St. James Farm Forest Preserve for their wedding portraits. St. James Farm was was a perfect location for wedding photos. We had very limited space to shoot at Rachel’s parents backyard and St. James Farm had TONS more space.

Next we did a bunch of wedding party photos with their brides and groomsmen. While they had originally had planned on their wedding party having matching outfits, everyone ended up wearing what they wanted. Honestly it was much more fun that way and we still got some incredibly epic shots! Then we took some photos with just Rachel & Victor and I was completely blown away by the beautiful scenery. I love the rows of trees & would love to see what this location looks like in the middle of summer. Hint hint… if anyone is interested in going there for a session during the warm weather. They were so cute together and we got some amazing shots with beautiful scenery and everything went amazing.

Backyard Wedding Ceremony

It was then time to head to Rachel’s parents home for the ceremony! Now I had never been to their home before, so once we arrived and I saw the backyard I was stunned!! It was so gorgeous and honestly I couldn’t believe it was their backyard and not a wedding venue – I seriously couldn’t tell the difference. I absolutely fell in love with backyard weddings from that point on. Their wedding was in the middle of April so it wasn’t even that warm out, but they were gifted with a beautiful 70 degree day which couldn’t have been more perfect. Rachel walked down the aisle and Victor’s face and reaction was everything! By the time that Rachel made it to Victor she had already been crying and basically was crying for the rest of the day – happy tears of course!!

The entire ceremony was so romantic & beautiful. They had the most amazing exit ever where everyone used confetti poppers. These photos are some of the most epic photos I have ever taken and they seriously took my breath away. I love all of the photos that I took during this moment and although I wish I could add all of them to this blog, a few will suffice.

Cocktail Hour

After the ceremony came cocktail hour, so while that was going on I made sure to snag a few detail shots during the reception set up. Huge shoutout to their wedding planner, Kelsey, from Sweet Chic Events for making this backyard wedding look so beautiful & magazine worthy. By the way, the clear tent that they had in their backyard is THE move. You’re able to have great lighting & see the ambiance from the rest of the backyard which really made these photos look so magical.

Reception

After cocktail hour came the reception. Although everything was such a blast, the most memorable moments were the speeches. The speeches were so entertaining especially Rachel’s mom. When she got up to spoke everyone was hooting and hollering and standing up and it was so much fun. The best man & maid of honor just brought tears to everyone’s eyes and it was just so sentimental and sweet.

We were able to step away for a quick bit to grab a few more shots of Rachel & Victor in the backyard before heading back into the reception for dances. They had their first dance under the clear tent & fairy lights and it seriously looked like something out of a story book. This moment was every photographers dream and it seriously was so dreamy. Of course after the first dance came the open dance floor which was such a blast. Everyone gathered together on the dance floor and just had such a fun time together.

Thank you so much Rachel & Victor for having me capture your special day. I had such a blast being able to create these amazing, fun and unforgettable moments for you to cherish forever!
