Summer Chicago Wedding at Glessner House
Summer Chicago Wedding at Glessner House. One of my most memorable weddings that I have shot in 2021 would have to be Katherine and Milti’s. Not only did they have one of the most beautiful venues, but the entire wedding was outdoors! Which for Chicago, is exceedingly rare.
Katherine and Milti both got ready at their venue, The Glessner House, here in Chicago. The Glessner house hold so much history behind its four walls. It’s actually one of the very few places you can have an all outdoor wedding here in Chicago! Built in 1887, this gorgeous home that was once owned by John Glessner has now been restored to be a gorgeous historic location. The interior is decorated fully with barely any empty space, which leaves a lot of opportunity for creativity & experimentation. After everyone was done getting ready we made our way to our first look location. Which actually, the space where the first look took place was also where the reception would take place later that night!
After the incredibly touching moments of the first look, and taking some portraits we went over to Museum Campus. Museum Campus is so incredibly close to the venue, that we had to snag this opportunity! The sky was blue and the sun was beaming and they both just looked absolutely amazing. We then made our way back to the Glessner House where we took some more photos inside. Of course making sure to admire every single bit of architecture & decor. The inside of the home is filled with dark red tones, detailed wallpaper and truly radiates those moody vibes, which I LOVE!
Shortly after finishing up their portraits, it was time for the ceremony! Their ceremony was at the Chicago Women’s Park & Garden. Their wasn’t a dry eye in sight throughout the entire ceremony. Once vows were exchanged and they said there “I do’s”, we made our way back to the Glessner House for cocktail hour and the reception! The reception was out of this world beautiful and of course I just have to RAVE about how much I love outdoor weddings. As many of you may not know, I am currently planning on moving to SoCal next year (2023)! One of the many reasons why I can’t wait to move is because we’re able to enjoy the outdoors more and all year round too. It’s not often that I get to shoot an all outdoor wedding in Chicago, so I soaked up every minute and loved it.
One of the many things that I loved about this day was the amount of speeches that Katherine & Milti had. So many people spoke highly of them, cracked a few jokes and really made the room laugh which was just so touching. I love being able to catch those genuine reactions and candid moments, it makes everything just so raw and real. Also, fun fact: Katherine and Milti actually got married on the longest day of the year, so I was there basically from dawn to dusk! Although a long day running around, I wouldn’t have traded it for the world since I got to capture such a beautiful wedding for K+M!
