Summer Elopement at Buckingham Fountain
Summer Elopement at Buckingham Fountain. Bethany and Brendan got in touch with me a few months back when they were planning their elopement. I was super excited because they had this epic plan of getting married in front of the Buckingham Fountain here in Chicago. It is such a cool location for a wedding and is a location that I don’t get to shoot very much, so I just couldn’t wait.
We started off the day at The Palmer House where Bethany and Brendan were getting ready. I also like to take this time to get some detail shots of shoes, jewelry, invitations and any other details that really tell your love story! They even had their adorable pup join in for the fun – which I LOVE! We took a few photos of Bethany getting ready and then Bethany actually went to help Brendan get ready! It seems that Brendan was having a little bit of trouble tying a bow tie, but luckily Bethany was there to save the day. There was a flood of emotions this morning, to be expected but the absolutely amazing and sweet kind.
After getting dressed, it was time for the first look which of course… the waterworks came to play even more. You know as photographers we see a full range of emotions on wedding days and of course, we love being able to see those happy tears. I absolutely love when my couples take the time to do a first look. A first look is the perfect opportunity for you and your partner to have some more intimate one-on-one time. It also gives you the perfect excuse to loosen up those wedding day jitters that you may have!
After their first look, it was time for their ceremony at Buckingham Fountain! One of the largest memorial fountains in the world located within Grant Park here in Chicago! The weather was absolutely gorgeous and super hot, but as I like to say there were “toy story” clouds in the sky to help us beat that summer heat. We even timed the ceremony perfectly to the Buckingham Fountain. You’re probably wondering… timed?? Yes! 20 minutes for every hour, the Buckingham Fountain produces a major water display. This isn’t just an ordinary water display, but one that shoots 150 ft into the air. Thanks to our coordination and perfect planning, we were able to get this giant water display in the middle of their ceremony! Bethany and Brendan read each other their own vows and of course there was a mix of laughing, crying and all of the emotions in between. I mean this day had all of the good emotions which I just loved. Once the ceremony was done, we celebrated with some photos with their close friends and did a couple portraits of the newlyweds close by at the Rose Garden, which I loved.
Once portraits were done, we went to the reception space at Barcocina! I actually love Barcocina and the food there is to DIE for! Bethany and Brendan had a huge outdoor space to themselves and overall was such a fun day to celebrate their elopement with them. Thank you so much Bethany and Brendan for letting me be a part of something so special – cheers!
