Vibrant Wedding at The Joinery in Chicago
Vibrant Wedding at The Joinery in Chicago. When Sara and Pat originally reached out, I was more than ecstatic. They seemed like such a cool couple and I knew I wanted to work with them! Throughout the whole planning process, they were so great and knew exactly what they wanted. I took their engagement photos and we even did a Face time engagement session during the pandemic (remember those?!). All of that happened prior to their wedding day, so we had so much time to get to know each and other. Despite all this time, when it came to their wedding day everything just absolutely blew me away. The crazy beautiful & colorful theme that they had along with their gorgeous venue led to everything being so amazing.
Of course, we had to start off the morning with Sara and her bridesmaids and their incredibly fun pajamas. This was such a vibe, especially with their floral crowns and confetti. Requesting confetti at every wedding, please! It’s so fun and there are some great biodegradable options as well (have to keep Mother Earth healthy over here)! Huge shoutout to this hotel as well, The Kinzie Hotel. The room had gorgeous lighting, beautiful decor and space for photos and just a perfect place for all of us to start off the day. Speaking of starting off the day, Pat started off his morning with his groomsmen playing video games. I absolutely love when my couples bring their personality into their day, it makes it more fun & truly one of a kind.
Next, it was time for their first look. This is one of my fave secret spots that I like to take my couples to do their first look, right by the riverwalk. There is barely anyone at that spot which gives the perfect opportunity for some alone time with just you and your partner. It’s also right next to bridges and the riverwalk so you get to have all of those beautiful locations at once during your first look. After Sara & Pat’s first look, we grabbed the wedding party and headed across the street and snapped a few photos there before heading to Logan Square.
Sara & Pat really wanted some photos that were different and out of the ordinary, so when we ended up by these colorful murals we just KNEW we had to be there. The murals that completely matched the vibe that they were going for and we had fun playing around with the beautiful florals that the bridesmaids had. We then made our way to this grungy street that I know here in Chicago that is filled with fun backdrops as well. We got some photos of them in front of some cool garage doors, archways, different painted backgrounds and all of the things that we all love. Also, can we take a moment to appreciate Sara in this amazing dress paired with the vibrant florals??
It was then time to head back for their ceremony! Sara and Pat had their ceremony & reception at The Joinery here in Downtown Chicago. The Joinery is such a cool space for weddings. You get this big open industrial room as well as an outdoor space. While Sara & Pat had their ceremony indoors and their cocktail hour outdoors, depending on what you chose you could do the opposite for your big day! Not only does The Joinery had this beautiful wedding venue, they also have different apartments attached/next to the venue. These apartments are the perfect opportunity for friends/family to stay close by for weddings too. On top of all the amazing amenities that The Joinery has, they are some of the nicest people that I have had the pleasure to work with.
The ceremony was just as beautiful as I thought it was going to be. The florals that Sara and her bridesmaids had were extended throughout the entire ceremony space and it was just breathtaking. Huge shoutout to their florist, Emily from Eco Wilde, because she was the real MVP on their wedding day. The ceremony was filled with so many laughs (and maybe a few tears) and was overall just so beautiful. After the ceremony, we made our way over to capture some golden hour shots. During these golden hour shots, Sara pulled out this AMAZING jacket that said “hitched” on the back. That was the moment I officially became OBSESSED. After snagging a few golden hour moments, it was time for us to head back in for the reception. Everyone was delivering their speeches and sharing all of their special moments with Sara & Pat and it was just amazing.
Once those were over, the dance floor opened up and the party started! I pulled Sara and Pat away just for a moment to go to The Joinery’s secret cocktail hour space that they had upstairs for some night shots. This secret space that I like to call it, is called the Safehouse. It’s a little cocktail bar and is a great location if you’re wanting to have your cocktail hour indoors or have more of a speakeasy type vibe. After a few night shots with Sara & Pat, the reception continued and the night was over!
Congratulations to Sara and Pat for having one of the most epic and amazing weddings ever. From the vibrant florals and decor to their touching and beautiful ceremony & reception, it seriously was a blast. I feel honored to have been there for them and to capture their special day!
